The species that can be found in the lake area are mainly the ones related to agricultural environments, open spaces and humanized rural zones. The recovery of the lake, surrounded by natural vegetation, created a favourable atmosphere for the improvement of the populations already existent. Among others, we should stress the presence of greater white-toothed shrew, badger, fox, wild boar, weasel, beech marten, hare, etc.
A bat monitoring study has made possible the detection of 10 different species. Two of them: the Long-Fingered bat (Myotis capaccinii) and the Daubenton’s bat (Myotis daubentonii), are considered species incorporated as a result of the recovery of the lake.
Among all mammal species, the presence of Southern water vole (Arvicola sapidus) should be emphasised since it is listed as vulnerable specie in the endangered species list.
